Podcasts + Walking = Sanity

During the lock-down and having to home school my two young sons, I find that I am waiting by the door for Big Dragon's return from work so I can have a chance to exercise and have some time to myself.

Two weeks ago I did 100km in one week, as inspired by one of my Edmonton comedienne friends. I took a week off last week for my blisters to heal and this week I am at it again. The walking route around Westlock is just short of 10km so it's a perfect way to end each day, spending close to 2 hours strolling through the town, the lagoon and the railroad tracks and listening to a podcast.

One of my favorite podcasts, that was introduced to me about a year and half ago by my sister-in-law is My Favorite Murder. It took a few episodes in to get hooked. The first episode, I was like, ugh they are kind of annoying, but by the third, I was like, I dig em.

Karen Kilgariff is a comedienne, used to be a head writer for the Ellen show, and also writes funny songs. She is 50 (this year), loves dogs, sarcasm, cult murders and serial killers. Georgia Hardstark used to co-host a show on the Food Network. She loves her cats, food, and a good ol' murder.

I have listened to all of their regular episodes, live episodes and mini-sodes and have found another podcast on their network, Exactly Right, called This Podcast Will Kill You. It's great. Two women scientists that discuss diseases that will kill you.

Getting some exercise, having a laugh to myself and seeing nature (deer and foxes) while the sun is setting is my favorite way to end the day.
