Dear Future Self,
Every Spring I get so excited about planting a garden and I imagine myself being the greenest of thumbs. Then Spring arrives and all of my hopes and dreams hit a stark reality. I am not a professional gardener and honestly, I don't have the patience or time for fussy plants.
Future self, don't bother the weeks of watering little seedlings so you have a "head-start" on the growing season. The probability of those plants surviving is bleak, very bleak. All of those days of diligently watering the small pots are for naught. As soon as those plants see what the real world has in store for them, they give up the ghost. You really don't have the time or energy to bring the little pots outside to transition them, no matter how loyal to your greens you think you are.
Although herbs look so chic and add a hipster vibe to your overall decor. They don't survive very long either. Sorry! Don't be hard on yourself, just make sure you have some dried herbs on hand. Spoil yourself and get the good brands.
Also, Future self, don't "invest" in growing your own fruit. Strawberries don't like you. It's worth the time and money to buy fresh fruit from the grocery store, or better yet, Farmer's Market. Leave it to the professionals. You'll thank me later.
