Well Hello There!

| Through the tunnel, Little Dragon kept saying, Monster, ROAR! I think he thought he was in a mythical cave. Plus, the acoustics were quite astounding. |
Long time, no see. Life has been good to us and we have been busy, I say "we" like I am a collective entity instead of an individual. And yes, most days I am a AbbyLewis, but that's okay, I am getting used to it by now.
As we are emptying our closets and packing our suitcases, I decided to postpone cleaning for a handful of minutes and write a blog post instead because I am crazy like that. We jump on an airplane tomorrow and head West back to the mothercountry. Happy to see friends and family whom we haven't seen for 8 months or more and to have Big Guy find a sweet job at a law office.
Today we decided to use our library museum pass to explore a museum none of us have set foot in. It is about a 30 minute drive from where we live, in a "sleepy" little town called Carp, Ontario. Any guesses? See how I used "sleepy"... now think bunk beds, bunker... I'll just tell ya. We went to the COLD WAR MUSEUM, which is a very large bunker. It is very Hunger Game, District 13ish and creepy and literally COLD. Perhaps I shouldn't have worn sandals in April, but man.

The bunker is made up of four separate levels and was secretly constructed under the orders of Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker, apparently 50 of them were built. Right outside of the bunker is a helicopter pad so that government officials could be rushed there if it came down to nuclear attacks. And they say only cockroaches would survive them? True. Political cockroaches, the worst kind!

| A scale model of the bunkers. Massive, right? |
The top floor had a dental office, medical rooms, "wipe-down" sterilization room and offices. The 2nd floor had more offices, board room, radio station, computer room, Prime Minister office, a "Womens" quarters, offices for government ministers among other things.

The 3rd floor had a kitchen, dining area and recreational room. And lastly the SUPER creepy basement had.. dun dun dun the MORGUE, machine room and BANK. Cause you need money when everyone around you is slowly and horrifically dying from radiation, right?

I would recommend this museum to anyone and everyone.
